Political Links

Political and news links and resources I've come across over the last few years. You'll notice that a lot of these links are American and there's two main reasons for this. The first is that American politics has dominated the political agenda in the UK in recent years and the second is that political resources for the UK, outside the British mainstream media, are pretty hard to find. with Christopher Lydon - This was an actual radio show that broadcast over the airwaves in the United States but is now purely a podcast due to a lack of funds. It features interviews and discussions on various topics including political issues as well as literary, philosophical economic and others.

Greg Palast - This is a link to the personal website of Greg Palast, an American journalist who works for the BBC and has done some great work particularly on voter fraud and the influence of big oil on the United States government.

Democracy Now - This is a daily news service that runs on various television and radio stations in the U.S. and is broadcast over the internet. It focus on issues that are considered on the left or liberal side of the American political spectrum, like social justice, labour rights, anti-war activism and so on. They also conduct interviews with various leading academics and journalists.

WhatDoesItMean - I hesitate to link to this website because there's some weird stuff on here. The guy who runs it seems to be a kind of militant, end-of-times, survivalist catholic with Russian sympathies but he does put together links to news items from around the world from 'reputable' sources like the BBC and The Times and so on. Actually pretty useful.

France 24 - I've said it before and I'll say it again. We're far too isolatd in this country when it comes to access to information. No Irish, Dutch, French channels easily available unless you fork out on a satellite system. So here's a 24-hour rolling news channel based in France that covers world and French domestic news in English, but from a French perspective.
